Narrowed Arteries Who Is Most at Risk

Most of us probably have some arteries that have narrowed significantly by the time we’re in our fifties or sixties.
Even before serious symptoms appear, atherosclerosis can cause tiredness or a general unwell feeling.

Are you among those at risk?

The risk of developing atherosclerosis rises with age.
Overweight people are more at risk than those who are lean.
Men are in more danger than women.

The risk for women increases sharply once they reach menopause. Women over 35 who smoke and take birth control pills may also have a higher chance of developing narrowed arteries.

There may be no symptoms before narrowed arteries have caused significant damage to your health. That’s why prevention and early detection are so important.
